Weaning or Stopping Breastfeeding Gently

Why this happens

Weaning happens for many reasons — personal choice, medical needs, baby-led changes, or life transitions. Whether it’s when your baby is young or older, and whether it’s sudden or gradual, stopping breastfeeding is a big emotional and physical shift for both you and your baby.

Why it’s challenging

Weaning can bring up mixed emotions — relief, guilt, grief, uncertainty. Some mums feel unsure how to begin, how fast to go, or how to avoid pain and supply issues. Without support, it’s easy to feel like you’re doing it “wrong.”

How I can help you

I can support you with weaning no matter the age of your baby - and always with care, compassion, and practical steps. Whether you’re weaning over time or facing an abrupt stop, I’ll help you navigate supply changes, baby’s needs, and your own wellbeing. We’ll honour the journey and make space for closure and calm.

What I offer

• Step-by-step weaning support
• Practical tips for managing your milk supply and breast comfort
• Support for both you and your baby during this change
• Emotional guidance during the weaning process
• Care that respects your experience and parenting values

You don’t have to figure this out alone.
