Working or Studying While Breastfeeding

Returning to Work or Study

Balancing breastfeeding with returning to work or study is a big transition. There are so many things to think about, from how will your baby feed while you are away, to the logistical challenges of being a working or studying mum.

Why it can be challenging

This change in our lives often brings worries like: “How will I maintain my supply?” “Will my baby take a bottle?” “Can I really do both?” Without a plan, it can feel like you’re unable to balance your baby’s needs with your own, which really adds to the stress of the situation.

How I can help you

We’ll make a clear, practical plan that fits your family and lifestyle. I’ll help you figure out your feeding choices (expressing is not the only option!), manage your supply, introduce formula feeds if needed, create a feeding rhythm with your baby’s caregiver - and support you to manage the emotional ups and downs of this transition.

What I offer

• Full explanation of your feeding options, tailored to your baby’s age
• Creating a feeding plan for the times you are away from your baby
• Information on expressing and storing breast milk and transition to formula feeds (if needed)
• Guidance on protecting supply
• Emotional and practical support as you head back to work or study

You don’t have to figure this out alone.
